JB and Erin Stearns started their love of homebuilding while in college. In 1992 they started a framing company which catered to the most prominent builders in Las Cruces. After 10 years of serving builders in the community, they began Stearns Custom Homes in 2002. Well respected and long time residents in Las Cruces, JB and Erin have three children. They are a dynamic couple who thoroughly enjoy what they do. |

Our handicap accessible home is just what we needed. Our youngest child has Ullrich Muscular Dystrophy and we were in desperate need of a new home that would accommodate his needs and the needs he would have as he gets older. JB was willing to work with us and to provide a house that not only meets his needs, but functions like a dream home for the rest of our family.
Our house has 2 standard bedrooms and 2 master suites, a bi-level center island to accommodate a wheelchair, 2 automatic doors, accessible light switches, beautiful and durable flooring, custom special needs toilet and shower, and a wide open floor plan to minimize obstructions and allow for a more free flowing traffic pattern for all 5 in our family.
We could not have worked with a better contractor as he listened to our needs and accommodated our son’s special needs excellently. While our home is handicap accessible it is very comfortable. We wanted the accessibility to be something that was incorporated into our home but that would not stand out as the main feature. JB met this need by incorporating intricate ceiling treatments, beautiful cabinet work, molding, hand texturing etc. His attention to detail is impeccable.
JB was very pleasant to work with and would allow for any questions and suggestions along the way. He wanted to build us a house that felt like a home and that we would be pleased with for years to come. I respect his commitment to quality sub contractors and the end product speaks for itself!"
