BIA Awards Builder of the Year to Local Green Builder
The Building Industry Association of Southern New Mexico awarded Stearns Custom Homes their annual Builder of the Year award at the awards ceremony on Novebmer 10.
Owner, JB Stearns who has served 5 years on the board of directors of the BIA including serving as President, building quality homes that enhance the quality of life in southern New Mexico is his goal.
"I've done just about every job there is in the entire building process and used that experience to develop a sustainable building method to building my homes," he said.
Stearns says his practices are meant to keep his client's monthly bills down and to minimize their impact on the environment. He said his homes are also certified by the independent Build Green NM program offered by the New Mexico Home Builders Association.
"A lot of people claim that their homes are efficient. I get mine certified and provide that certification to the owners so that they know they're getting the real deal.
Stearns also says that his time in the BIA has been a benefit to his business.
"The BIA does a lot of good work for the real estate industry and it needs hard working volunteers to keep it going," Stearns said. "In my time on the board of directors I've met and worked with a lot of great people and businesses that keep our industry moving forward."
Stearns says the BIA also provides the building industry with valuable educational opportunities.
"I've fine-tuned my practices with things I've learned at our classes," he said.
