At Stearns Custom Homes we are very interested in helping you with your custom home needs. The following page has been designed to help you understand the process better. This is not a comprehensive list but a general outline of how your new home will be built.

Step 1 What Can You Afford?
The first step in building a custom home in Las Cruces is getting pre-qualified for a loan. This ensures that everyone involved knows that you are serious about this decision. If you haven’t been pre-qualified, but would like to begin a planning stage based on what you think you can afford please see our Financial Tools page for a mortgage calculator that can help you determine the size of home loan in Las Cruces you can afford. Do not use the results of this calculator to make financial decisions.

Step 2 What Do You Want?
The next step is determining what type of home you want and where you want it in Las Cruces. We have a Getting Started page designed to help you with this step. You will want to think about the number of stories, bedrooms, living areas, bathrooms, as well as the size of lot you want in Las Cruces and style of home.

Step 3 Let’s Build Your Home!
This is when the fun starts. Here I’d like to take you through a general outline of what we do and in what order. Take a visual tour of the home building process by clicking here.

Step 4 Move In
You will want to be sure that all utilities are set up in your name to be active on the day you move in. You will want to begin this process 3-4 weeks in advance to your closing to be sure that on the day you move in you have heat or cooling, your refrigerator, etc. You will also do a final walk through with your Las Cruces builder to ensure everything is to your preferences. Then you have closing and get your keys!
